School Reading Assembly
SCHOOL ASSEMBLY INFORMATION
Our aim is to help young readers become passionate about reading by engaging GREAT books that stir their imaginations with stories of wonder and adventure and fan the flames of curiosity about the world around them.
School Assemblies with great book donations are one way we work towards this aim.
JAR provides the following:
- A 30 min JAR assembly with a fun and engaging children’s author Annie Winston and digital artist/philanthropist, Al Golub.
- A motivating talk about the value and importance of reading and how to actively engage your mind when reading a book or anything else.
- Fifty FREE, award winning Heroical Storicals Daniel Boone books for every student in attendance and 6 FREE books for the school library.
- Tip sheet handouts from Annie on reading and writing well, book marks and Book Report Forms
JAR believes that a successful reader is a thinking and responsive reader.
Students who finish reading the Daniel Boone book will be asked to turn in a book report answering a series of simple questions about their experience reading the book. Students will have approximately three weeks to complete the book report and turn it in to the school librarian. JAR will collect them for review and encouraging comments. Students who turn in their report on time will receive a free yogurt coupon, or a free pizza coupon. Their name will also be entered to win the annual grand prize of a ride on the Coeur d Alene cruise boat with their immediate family. JAR wants to communicate to students that hard work brings rewards and it is hard work to learn to read well, to comprehend and think about what has been written and then to meaningfully respond to questions.

“The kids absolutely adored your presentation and they were thrilled to get a signed copy of your book. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for an amazingly inspiring presentation. I know that each and every student left the assembly motivated, not only to read better, but also to write better. Your ability to motivate such a love of learning is truly a gift.” Brandy Price, Principal
“Thank you for coming to my school. Your visit inspired my daughter to work hard to improve her writing. As a parent, it was a thrill to listen to you encourage students to champions of good character and to live their dreams.” Debbie Vopalensky, Parent

Thank you again for a wonderful presentation today! Thank you so much for the books for the students! Wendy Ziesmer, Librarian
