Boys and Girls Club

JAR donated over $1,500 worth of new books to the Boys and Girls Club on Tuesday, August 11th. We’ve given the kids at the Boys and Girls Club in Coeur d’Alene, ID a reading challenge. For reading the chapter book and answering a few questions about what they read, their name will be entered in a drawing to win one of two $50 gift certificates to Michaels. By providing these gift certificates JAR hopes to encourage readers to develop their artistic gifts, creativity, and have some fun!

We’ll be joining the Boys and Girls Club on August 27th from 2-3pm to have our drawing and celebrate all the readers who read the book with a party. The author, Annie Winston will be there to answer questions and provide her best reading and writing tips. It’ll be an amazing day full of passionate readers, cupcakes, games, and prizes! We can’t wait!

Friday night July 10th JAR partnered with the Corner Store and gave away books, coloring pages, bookmarks, and treats to kids and families. It was so fun to see such happy smiling faces and to be encouraged by the enthusiasm of the young readers to receive and read great books. Take a look at some of the pictures from Friday!

While kids aren’t in school, JAR still wants every child to read great books and recognize the positive impact a good story can have on their lives. To that end, we are excited to announce the JAR Book Club! Each month, we will announce a book for parents and kids to read together, one that is JAR-approved, educational, inspirational, and just fun! Discussion questions will be posted starting on the 10th of that month. With parents’ help, kids can participate in the discussion by commenting on the post, and those who engage in the discussions will be entered to win a JAR-approved book!

Seeing my husband read to our grandchildren over Thanksgiving , I couldn’t help but be reminded of how passionate readers are built on the laps of caring people.
Reading faithfully to children changes them for the better and it changes you too!
